Reliable tool for research

I've been using ResearchPal for a while now, mostly for the citation generator and document summarizer. This time I tried the AI thesis assistant for a new project. It was just as solid as my previous experiences. The summaries are consistently good, and the citations always come out right the first time. It's why I keep coming back, never had an issue with it. Good to know I can rely on it.

Helped with my literature review

I used ResearchPal for my literature review and it really made things easier. The academic literature review tool was good for sorting through articles. It summarized papers pretty well, which saved me a bunch of time. I got the monthly subscription and it was easy to set up. Overall, it felt pretty smooth, definitely helped me out.

Good value for annual plan

I was looking for an academic writing coach and found ResearchPal. I saw they had an annual plan discount, which made it much more affordable than paying monthly. I got the pro plan and it felt like a good deal for what I needed. The abstract generator and research paper outliner were quite useful. It was worth switching from my old tool for the savings, and the features were robust enough for my needs. Definitely felt like I got my money's worth with the annual plan.

thinking about getting the annual plan, is it a big jump in features from the free version? trying to decide if it's worth the cost.

O Omar Lindqvist 2 months ago
Oh yeah, totally. The free plan is super limited. With the annual, you get way more uses, better summarization, and all the citation stuff unlocked. It's a huge difference.

I switched to annual mostly for the PDF analyzer and unlimited searches. If you're doing a lot of research, it's a no-brainer.

can you really cancel the subscription anytime? no hidden fees or anything right? thinking of trying it out for a few months.

B Brett Kaur 2 months ago
Yep, cancelled mine last semester when my project was done. No issues, super easy from the account settings.

Yeah, I think it just rolls over monthly until you cancel. No contracts or anything if you're on the monthly plan.

hey, was wondering if the student discount is easy to get? like do they just need an edu email or something more?

M Marcus Kim 3 months ago
yeah it's usually just an edu email for verification. pretty straightforward afaik.

i think sometimes you need a referral link from another student too, depending on when you sign up. but the edu email is always a part of it.

Is ResearchPal actually good for literature reviews? I've used some other AI tools and they just spit out garbage sometimes.

K Kevin Lindqvist 2 months ago
It's decent for getting started. Like, it pulls out key info and summaries pretty well. Still gotta read the papers yourself though lol.

Honestly, for mapping out a field and finding connections it's way better than just searching Google Scholar. It's not perfect but a huge time-saver.

ResearchPal vs Elicit, anyone used both extensively? Curious about which one handles older papers better and is more accurate.

S Steve Whitfield 2 months ago
I've used both. ResearchPal seems to be a bit better with summarizing and pulling out specific data points from PDFs. Elicit is good for finding related papers, but sometimes its summaries are a bit generic.

For accuracy, I'd lean towards ResearchPal, especially for the citation generation. Elicit can sometimes miss things if the paper isn't super recent. But both are miles better than nothing!
